Exhibited at the Fat Village Art District, 2016
Curated by Leah Brown and Peter Symons.
Unlucky refugees who would have bought roughly 1,200 life vests being manufactured in Izmir, Turkey, that was a false promise. The vests were fake. They were filled with the sponge, it drags people down and causes them to drown.
I made my last work “Asylum Seeker” in memory of the people who lost their life in fake life jackets. After escaping from their motherland and seeking for a shelter in different countries, these people struggled for their life and yet they died because of the tyranny they faced from other human beings.
I dedicate this last work of mine to all those innocent souls.
